it is rather embarassing that this is the second elton john greatest hits album i own but this one has a great explanation. basically i got my first tape player the day after i got my first tape but it played the tape (nisemono by ginger root) a semitone too high so the next day (14th may 2023, the same day i got inspirational sax and girls! girls! girls!) i went to a charity shop looking for some new tapes, and hoping to find a familiar one so that i could see whether the issue lies with the tape or the tape player, because if it was a song i knew already i'd be able to identify if it was different to usual, and if so how. i wasn't too hopeful, because usually when i go to charity shops i look for CDs and can't usually find ones i know, but this time the universe decided to hate me and present me this as the only tape that i knew. i didn't want another elton john greatest hits album! even one was fairly embarassing, it's living life in the cupboard, but i guess god wanted me to have another one. sobs. at least this one has the bitch is back
on it.
to add insult to this, the result was inconclusive. this is an old tape, and the pitch varied a bit - skewing too high, but sometimes in tune, so i'm not sure if it's entirely the fault of the tape, or if the player also has issues.
